Trencher Manufacturer - Dickins Mcleod
Dickins Mcleod Trenchers
Dickins McLeod began in 1981 as an irrigation company, installing automatic watering systems. It soon became apparent that the biggest limitation was the absence of a suitable trenching machine; they were too small and light or too large. So the Koda® trencher began its development.
The first unit was produced in 1985, which was a pull along machine with a lever operated cutter bar. This was successful although limited as the industry wanted a self propelled machine. In 1989 the S.P. Trencher was released and proved very popular although the hire market was becoming the biggest market for the unit.
The hire industry required equipment that was robust, simple, reliable and capable of withstanding abuse. As a result the Koda® machine was developed. In 1996, equipped with the new technology of linear actuation for cutter bar adjustment and high performance batteries, a compact, user-friendly trencher capable of cutting to a depth of 600mm (24") began production. Within two years it became the dominant unit for residential irrigation and electrical work in Australia.
