Astec Underground entered the underground construction market with the acquisition of Trencor, the industry's most respected brand of large trenchers capable of cutting wide, deep trenches in the most difficult soil conditions, explains Astec Underground President Alan Odgers.

Next, Astec added American Augers, the world's leading manufacturer of boring machines and horizontal directional drilling equipment offering thrust and pullback force greater than 1,000,000 pounds.

Astec Underground then formed a strategic alliance with Case for the sales and support of the company's well- known line of trenchers, vibratory plows and HDD products. This arrangement subsequently resulted in the purchase of Case underground utility construction products by Astec Underground.

The former Case products now are manufactured and sold under the Astec brand. Because American Augers and Trencor have a long-established and significant name recognition in the industry Astec will continue to market their brands, along with the Astec-branded product line.

American Augers introduced its auger boring equipment in 1970 and its first directional drill model in 1988. The American Augers product line up features the world's largest selection of HDD models with pullback capabilities between 100,000 and 1.3 million pounds.

The Trencor brand has dominated the large-trencher market for more than 50 years with high-performance rock trenchers and specialized excavation products used by contractors worldwide for a wide variety of projects.
